The gap left by a missing tooth is bridged with an artificial tooth called ‘bridge’. A typical dental bridge has two crowns (to be placed on the adjacent teeth) and the artificial tooth inbetween. The false teeth may either be made using gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of all of these. Bridges can be made to appear like your natural teeth. They are as strong as natural teeth and last for a very long time. But the patient will have to maintain good oral hygiene and keep the adjacent teeth healthy and strong. This includes brushing the teeth twice a day, regular flossing, and visiting a hygienist regularly for dental check-ups.
